Entering an Employee Grievance

Purpose:  Use this document as a reference to add a new employee grievance to the system.

Entering an Employee Grievance

  1. The Employee/Applicant field enables a user to add a grievance filed by an employee or applicant.  A user enters the employee or applicant number in this field - Select the Employee/Applicant field, and enter in a valid number.
  2. The Grievance Date field contains the system date, usually the current date, which a user can change unless the grievance was filed on the current date
  3. The Type field enables a user to specify a grievance type - Select the Type field, and enter the desired value into the field.
  4. The Description field enables a user to enter a grievance description - Select the Description field, and enter the desired information into the field, i.e., "Marcia believes that her performance review was unfair."
  5. The Status field enables a user to select at what status the employee grievance is - Select the Status drop down box, and select the desired option, i.e., Pending.
  6. Select the Status Date of the grievance status, and enter the Status Date.
  7. Select the Grievance Steps tab - the Grievance Steps page allows a user to record actions taken in response to employee grievances.  
  8. Enter the desired information into the Grievance Steps field.

  3. The Action Date field contains the current date by default.  A user can accept the current date, or change the date if the step does not begin on a current date.
  4. The Resolution Date field contains the current date by default.  A user can accept the current date, or change the date if the step does not begin on a current date.
  5. The Discussed With field specifies the name of the person with whom the user discussed the step.  Select the Discussed With field, and enter in the desired information, i.e., supervisor's last name, first name.
  6. The Letter Code field enables a user to specify the appropriate letter code, if a letter wants to send a standard letter about the grievance.
  7. The Letter Dt field enables a user to enter the date when the letter was sent.
  8. The Step Resolution field enables a user to enter the action a user took to resolve the step.
  9. The Comment field enables a user to enter relevant comments.

  1. Select the Grievance Resolution tab - the Grievance Resolution page enables a user to document the final resolution of an employee grievance.
  2. The Final Resolution field enables a user to select the resolution type that described how the incident was finally resolved.
  3. Select the Save button.
  4. End of procedure.
