Academic Subject Table (Fluid)

Purpose:  Use this document as a reference for maintaining the Academic Subject Table via Fluid navigation in ctcLink.

Audience:  Curriculum Management staff.

Academic Subject Table

Navigation:  ctcLink CS Staff Homepage > Curriculum Management Tile

  1. The Curriculum Management page displays.
  2. Expand the Curriculum Setup Tables menu on the left.
  3. Select the Academic Subject Table sub-menu list item.
  4. The Academic Subject Table search page displays on the right.

To Make Updates to an Existing Subject

Set up your user defaults to ensure the correct institution is accessed. 

There is a possibility to edit the information associated with a different institution inadvertently. Please be diligent and always confirm that you are working with your institution's data.

  1. Select the Find an Existing Value tab.
  2. Enter Search Criteria to identify your subject. Include Academic Institution, Subject Area and Description.
  3. Select Search.
  4. The Academic Subject Table tab displays.
  5. Select the Add a New Row [+] icon to add a new effective dated row.
  6. Enter new Effective Date and make any updates to the following fields:
    • Description
    • Short Desc
    • Formal Description
    • External Subject Area
    • Academic Organization
  7. Select Save.
  8. The Subject Taxonomy tab holds no required data.

To Add a New Academic Subject

  1. Back on the Academic Subject Table search page, select the Add a New Value tab.
  2. Enter Academic Institution.
  3. Enter Subject Area.
  4. Select Add.
  5. The Academic Subject Table tab displays.
  6. Enter an Effective Date of 1/1/1901 and the following fields:
    • Description
    • Short Desc
    • Formal Description
    • External Subject Area
    • Academic Organization
  7. Select Save.

To Verify Academic Subject Addition or Update

Navigation: ctcLink CS Staff Homepage > Curriculum Management Tile

  1. The Curriculum Management page displays.
  2. Expand the Course Catalog menu on the left.
  3. Select the Course Catalog sub-menu list item.
  4. The Course Catalog search page displays.
  5. Select the Add a New Value tab.
  6. Select Add.
  7. The Catalog Data tab displays.
  8. Select the Offerings tab.
  9. The Offerings tab displays.
  10. Select the Subject Area drop-down menu and verify the new or updated Academic Subject is available for selection.

Process complete.
