CS: Local Configuration Guide - Curriculum Management

The Curriculum Management Configuration Guide explains necessary local tables needed to setup an institution in the PeopleSoft system.

Curriculum Management configuration is dependent upon Academic Structure setup being completed.

Course Attributes (Global/College)

Use course attributes for institutional research purposes and to print repetitive text in the schedule of classes or course catalog, such asOffered in Fall Only.Course attributes are attached to courses on the Catalog Data page and to classes on the Basic Data page. Unlike requirement designations, course attributes do not transfer to PeopleSoft Academic Advisement.

The Course Attributes table includes state-defined and college-defined values.  Colleges may created local Course Attributes beginning with a “C” and their three-digit college code.  For example Clark College has a local Course Attribute of C140.

See Global Configuration Guide for state-defined Course Attributes.

Colleges will have a standard set of values available for selection.

Requirement Designation (Global/College)

Requirement designations, unlike course attributes, transfer to PeopleSoft Academic Advisement.Requirement designations are intended as optional add-on credit for a course in which some students are taking the class alone, and others in the same class are taking both the class and attempting to pass the requirement designation portion. In this way, the requirement designation reflects extra credit.

College may define Requirement Designations as needed.  The Requirement Designation table is global and the recommended naming convention is to begin with the three-digit college code.  For example, Clark College would have a Requirement Designation of 140A.  Refer to the Production environment for current values.

Instruction Mode (College)

Instruction modes identify the type of instruction available for courses and Classes.

Instruction Modes are State Defined and configured for each college. The system uses a default value of P (In Person) for the Instruction Mode field on the Schedule of Classes - Basic Data page (when you enter the page in Add mode). In addition, you can generate rosters only for those classes with an instruction mode value of P on the Basic Data page.

Dynamic Class Dates (College)

This page defines a rule scheme for the landmark date of a dynamic class date rule. A rule scheme indicates the method that the Dynamic Class Dates process uses as a basis for calculating the applicable landmark date.

Dynamic and OEE rules will be configured by request of the college to calculate deadlines for courses that do not follow the standard term schedule.  College will maintain Dynamic Rules after go-live.
