Browse Classes (HCX)

Purpose: Use this document as a reference for browsing classes on a mobile device.

Audience: Students.

The college mobile applications will look a bit different between the various colleges. This guide is intended as a general overview. Please note that your college may have different images and options available.  

Browse Classes

  1. On the Mobile (HCX) Springboard page, select the Browse Classes tile to access the public browse classes.
  2. Alternatively, if you would like to log in first, select the ctcLink Login tile.
  3. The ctcLink Login page displays.
  4. Enter your ctcLink ID.
  5. Enter your Password.
  6. Select the Sign In button. The Okta Account section of the ctcLink Reference Center provides helpful information on accessing your ctcLink account.

Access Browse Classes

  1. If you log in to ctcLink, the Mobile (HCX) Dashboard will be displayed.
  2. Select Class Information from the sidebar menu.
  3. Select Browse Classes from the sub-menu.
  4. The Browse Classes page displays.
  5. Select your search criteria to narrow your search.
    • Select a Term (required).
    • Select a Career.
    • Select a Subject.
  6. Select the Search button. 🔍When typing in the Search box, results narrow automatically as you type. You do not need to select Search again.
  7. To further refine results, enter one or more keywords in the Search box.
  8. Locate the class you want to view and select the View Sections button.
  9. 🔍Search results may display differently depending on device and screen size.
Search for a Course

View Class Section Information

  1. The selected class displays.
  2. Select the View Sections button.
  3. The available sections for this class display.  
  4. Select the class row to expand.
  5. The class details display.
  6. Select the Bookstore button in the Textbooks section.
    • A new browser tab or window opens to the college bookstore.
    • Review textbooks, then close the tab/window to return to HCX.
  7. Select the See Location button in the Details section.
    • The campus map shows the location of classrooms.
    • Use + / - to zoom.
    • Select the X in the upper right corner to close the map.
  8. Choose the Enroll, Add to Cart, or Add to Planner button located at the bottom-right side of the page.

Optional Actions

📢 Important: Select Enroll only if you are ready to register for the selected class.

  1. If you are ready to register for the class, select Enroll.
  2. The Enrollment options pop-up window displays.
  3. Select the Save button.
  4. The Enrollment Results pop-up window displays.
  5. Click OK

Add to Cart

📢 Important: Adding a class to your Shopping Cart does not enroll you in the class. It saves the selected class until you are ready to enroll.

  1. If you want to continue searching for additional classes before enrolling, select Add To Cart.
  2. The class is added to your Shopping Cart, where you can review and enroll in one or more classes later.
  3. The Enrollment options pop-up window appears.
  4. Select the Save button.
  5. A message displays, "Successfully added class to the cart."

View Deadlines

➜ Use View Deadlines to review important enrollment dates associated with the selected class.

  1. Review the enrollment deadlines displayed for the selected class (e.g., Drop-Retain Record, Drop with Penalty, etc.).
  2. Close the deadlines window when finished.

➜ Use Share to copy or send course information to another person.

  1. Select Share.
  2. Copy the link to share the class with friends.
