UAT CH.001 - FWL Assign Work to Send Pay [Sprint 1] (Project Archive)

User Acceptance Test Overview

When User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Faculty Workload (FWL) the expectation is that the process begins with an employee who has been hired to work as an instructor. The Faculty Workload User Acceptance Test ends with sending payroll data to the HCM pillar using the process that loads the data into the Pay Sheet Staging table, where it can be access when a payroll is run. Testing of payroll is separate from testing FWL.  The UAT High Level Flow therefore assumes that colleges will test with an existing instructor hired into the appropriate job or has completed the HCM User Acceptance Test for hiring an employee [HH.001 - Hire to Payroll] and is using that employee as an instructor to who work is assigned.

Incorporating Data Validation into the Data/Transaction Selection for Executing UAT:

One aspect of a successful User Acceptance Test is understanding how legacy data has been converted and ensuring that colleges have tested data scenarios that use the converted data as part of the test activity.  In this way colleges can test 'real life' situations for things like enrolling a block of converted nursing students, or enrolling converted Running Start students into a dynamically dated orientation class.

By including such data scenarios colleges can ensure they really understand how the student data was converted into PeopleSoft, in case the way the data converted presents a particular problem for the institution.  With this approach, there is time to find such data conditions prior to the final round of conversion, the Dry Run prior to Go Live.

Real Life Scenarios:

Using Converted Information to Strengthen Comprehension of Validated Data

Full Time Faculty Contracts:

  • Find an Active Full Time Faculty Employee and in Schedule of Classes assign them a full load.
  • Find an Active Full Time Faculty Employee Moonlight Job and in Schedule of Classes assign them some Moonlight Pay.

Part-Time Faculty Contracts:

  • Find an Active Part-Time Faculty Employee and in Schedule of Classes assign them to a class.
  • Find an Active Part-Time Faculty Employee and in Schedule of Classes assign them to a class at 50% load.
  • IF YOUR COLLEGE HAS CONTINUING EDUCATION: Find an Active Part-Time Faculty Employee and in Schedule of Classes assign them to a Continuing Education class.
  • For every contract type find an Active Part-Time Faculty Employee and in Schedule of Classes use a relevant Assignment Type to generate at least one (1) contract for each type.

Non-Instructional Contracts:

  • Find an Active Full Time Faculty Employee and in Instructor Term Workload give them Release Time.
  • Find an Active Full or Part Time Faculty Employee and in Instructor Term Workload give them a Special Assignment.
  • IF YOUR COLLEGE HAS LIBRARIANS/COUNSELORS WHO ARE PAID THROUGH FACULTY WORKLOAD: Find an Active Full or Part Time Faculty Employee and in Instructor Term Workload give them the appropriate Assignment Type and hours.

Sourcing Data for Converted Information

Contact your Human Resources (HR) Subject Matter Expert (SME) who is intended to be your contact for Faculty Workload Job Data needs going forward. Inform them to locate the following:

  • For Full Time Faculty: HR Active, Empl Class FAC, provide an EmplID and Empl Record.
  • For Full Time Faculty Moonlight: HR Active, Empl Class FAC, Earn Code MLC, provide an Empl ID and Empl Record.
  • For Part Time Faculty: HR Active, Empl Class PTF, provide an EmplID and Empl Record.

Additional support and job data corrections may be needed. Please make sure your HR SME is available during testing.

Not sure how to identify employees that meet the criteria above?  Refer to the Data Validation Guide on Job/Position data to learn how to run the CTC_VALIDATE_JOB_DATA Query and export a list of converted employees with their job information.
