Removing Pop-up Comment Box on Editing and Posting Journals

Purpose: Use this document to remove the default comment notification “would you like to wait” while editing or posting journals.

Audience: This is for the Finance Staff but will be initiated by the IT Security at the colleges.

NOTE: The example below is for the editing of journals or posting of a journal. By default, there are two "Display Confirmation Message" check boxes selected and popup messages will be enabled.

Navigation: Main Menu > Set Up Financials/Supply Chain > Common Definitions > User Preferences > Define User Preferences (select Overall Preferences and General Ledger)

While editing or posting journals, a default message will display once the journal has processed or posted.

  1. In the Online Journal Edit Defaults area, the "Display Confirmation Message" check box is selected by default. A message will display when editing a journal asking if you would like to wait while the journal is being processed. If the "Display Confirmation Message" check box is unchecked, the message will not appear.
  2. In the Journal Post Defaults area, the "Display Confirmation Message" check box is selected by default. A message will display asking if you would like to wait if a comment box is desired when a journal is being posted. If the "Display Confirmation Message" check box is unchecked, the message will not appear.

The popup question is a default. To remove the popup an IT Specialist will have to remove one or both check marks from the Display Confirmation Message check boxes in the Online Journal Edit Defaults and the Journal Post Defaults areas of the Define User Preferences page. (Select Overall Preferences and General Ledger).
