Schedule New Course (Fluid)
⚠️This QRG reflects future updates that will be implemented on 10/10/26.
Purpose: Use this document as a reference for scheduling a new course via Fluid navigation in ctcLink.
Audience: Student Services staff.
- The Curriculum Management page displays.
- Expand the Class Scheduling folder.
- Select Schedule New Course.
- The Schedule New Course search page displays.
- Enter the appropriate Search Criteria to identify the course.
- Select Search.
➡️Note: Course numbers may not sort correctly on the Schedule New Course search page. For example, MATH 63 may appear after MATH 111 and MATH 210. Oracle corrected course number sorting on several pages with Image 38; however, Schedule New Course is still affected. This issue will be addressed at a later date.
- The Basic Data tab displays. Use this tab to define class sections, permission requirements, and class attributes.
- Select the applicable Session for each component.
- Enter a unique alphanumeric value in the Class Section field for each class section.
- The Component field automatically populates based on Course Catalog data.
- For a multi-component course, select Auto-Create Component to automatically create each component.
- Select the applicable Class Type for each component. Only one component within a class can have a Class Type of Enrollment.
- Review the Associated Class number. The system automatically assigns this value when the component is created and associates components of a multi-component class. Update the value if necessary.
- Review the Campus. This field automatically populates from the Course Catalog - Offerings page and identifies the campus offering the course. This value cannot be changed.
- Review the Location. This field automatically populates from Course Catalog data and can be changed if necessary.
- Review the Academic Organization. This field automatically populates from Course Catalog data and can be changed if necessary.
- Select the applicable Holiday Schedule.
- Review the Instruction Mode. This field automatically populates when the component is created and can be changed if necessary.
- Review the Start/End Date fields. These dates automatically populate based on the term/session calendar and can be overridden for an individual class section.
- Select Add Fee to define class section fees charged in addition to or instead of course fees.
- Review the Schedule Print checkbox. This is automatically selected based on Course Catalog data. Uncheck the box if the class should not be searchable on the Class Schedule.
- If needed, select Student Specific Permissions to generate Permission Numbers by student EMPLID for the class section.
- For colleges not yet live on ctcLink that are completing Curriculum Management tasks in Production, enter the Legacy Item Number in the Attribute field. All other colleges should leave the Attribute set to zero.
- Review the Course Attributes automatically populated from Course Catalog data. Add additional attributes as needed.
- Select the Meetings tab.
- The Meetings tab displays.
- Enter or select the applicable information:
- Facility ID.
- Pat.
- Mtg Start.
- Mtg End.
- Instructor ID in the Instructors For Meeting Pattern section.
- Select Approve from the Access drop-down list to allow the instructor to enter and approve their grade roster. This is required for each component.
- Select the Enrollment Control tab.
- The Enrollment Control tab displays. Class Status defaults to Active when scheduling a new class.
- Review the Add Consent and Drop Consent fields. These fields automatically populate from Course Catalog data and can be changed to require different levels of permission to add or drop the class.
- If applicable, enter the section in the 1st Auto Enroll Section field that students should automatically be enrolled in when they select this section.
- Enter the applicable capacity information:
- Requested Room Capacity.
- Enrollment Capacity.
- Wait List Capacity.
- Select the Reserve Cap tab, if applicable.
