9.2 Request a What-If Report

Purpose:  Request a what-if report from the Advisor Center in ctcLink.

Audience:  Advisors.

You must have at least one of these local college managed security roles:

  • ZZ SS Advisor

You must also set these SACR Security permissions:

If you need assistance with the above security roles or SACR settings, please contact your local college supervisor or IT Admin to request role access.

Request What-If Report from the Advisor Center

Navigation:  Self-Service > Advisor Center > My Advisees

  1. The My Advisees page displays.
  2. Select the View Student Details link next to a student who is enrolled in a class for the current term.
  3. The Advisor Student Center page displays.
  4. Select What-if Report value in the drop-down menu from the Academics subsection.
  5. Select the round double-arrow [>>] button.
  6. The What-If Report page displays.
  7. Select the Create New Report button.
  8. The Create What-if Scenario section displays.
  9. Enter the desired information into:
    • Institution
    • Career
    • Catalog Year
    • Academic Program
    • Area of Study
    • Concentration: If your college offers Sub-Plans, this is where the appropriate Sub-Plans will be entered (will default to n/a).
  10. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select the Submit Request link.

  1. The What-If Report displays under the Advisee Requirements.
  2. Select the View Report as PDF button.
  3. The pdf file displays in a new window.

Hello. Is there a way to generate a What If Report for students who are NOT among my advisees? In my position, I often advise other students who are not in my committee. I am not seeing an option under Academics to generate a What If Report based on programs these non-advisee students are considering. Thank you.

Hello Veronica! From the Advisee Student Center, to enter a student who is not assigned to you, click the Return to Search button in the lower-left section of your screen. On the Search Criteria page (for Advisee's Student Center), enter the student's EMPLID and search. On the Advisee Student Center, activate the drop-down box and choose What-If Report, and you'll land on the What-if Report Selection page. Choosing the Create New Report button will direct you to the page where you will enter the program, area of study, and the optional Concentration (SubPlan). Once the fields are populated with the desired information, click on the Submit Request link in the lower-right corner of the page.
