HCM Earning Codes - Description

Purpose:  Use this document as a reference to look up Earning Codes in ctcLink for the most current, up-to-date view from the enterprise-wide, global Earnings Program Table - WA1, and the global NRA Earnings Program. In addition, this document describes the option to look up individual Earnings Codes in ctcLink from the Earnings Table. You are able to view and download the codes that are included in the two global earnings programs.

NOTE: There are queries being developed to support looking at Earnings Codes from the common enterprise table

Audience:  HR and Payroll Associates.

HCM Earnings Program Table - Description

Set Up HCM > Product Related > Payroll for North America > Compensation and Earnings > Earnings Program Table

  1. The Earnings Program Table search page displays.
  2. Enter the desired information into the Earnings Program ID field. In our case, there are only two Earnings Programs in the table, so it might be easier to select the Search button.
    1. The global program WA1, with the description of Earnings Program Enterprise, contains all the earnings codes for US Residents.
    2. The global program NRA, with the description of NRA Earnings Program, contains all the earnings codes used with Non-Resident Aliens.
  3. Select the row for the Earnings Program you would like to view. In this example, it is WA1.

  1. The Earnings Program Table page displays. Notice the Earnings Program ID = WA1, at the top of the page. The Earnings Codes associated with this Earnings Program Table are many. The total number is displayed in the row control tool bar.
  2. Use the row control display of changing the view display 100 rows. Select the View 100 hyperlink.

  1. The Earnings Program Table page now displays 100 rows.
  2. Use the row control icons along with the scroll bar to display the rows to locate the Earnings Code of interest.

  1. Return to Search and select the NRA Earnings Program from the Search Results. This program holds all of the eligible earnings codes that are used for NRAs.
  2. The Earnings Program Table page for the NRA program displays. Notice the Earnings Program ID = NRA, at the top of the page.
  3. All of the new NRA Earnings Codes begin with '1'. However, there a five earnings codes used prior to the update that are included as well:

They are: NRH - Non-Teaching/Training/Stu Hrly
               NRP -
               NTS - Non-Teaching/Training/Studying
               STR - Studying and Training
               TCH - Teaching

HCM Earnings Table - Description

Set Up HCM > Product Related > Payroll for North America > Compensation and Earnings > Earnings Table

  1. The Earnings Table search page displays.
  2. Enter the desired information into the Earnings Code field, and/or Description field. Or the option to simply select search without parameters to list all earnings codes (well, there is a limit of 300 rows visible).
  3. Select the Search button.
  4. Choose the Earnings Code by selecting the row. In this example, it is 1SH.

  1. The Earnings Table page displays.
  2. Use the tabs at the top pf the page to view all the characteristics that have been defined for the requested Earnings Code.
  3. When finished reviewing the information, use the Return to Search button at the bottom of the page to return to the search page to enter another code if necessary.

QHC_PY_EARN_CODES_TAX_INFO_PRG

This query is for college users to run and generate a list of Earnings Codes included in the respective program, and show more details.

  1. To run the query, navigate to the Query Viewer:  Reporting Tools > Query > Query Viewer
  2. In the begins with field, enter the Query Name:  QHC_PY_EARN_CODES_TAX_INFO_PRG
  3. Select the Search button.
  4. Locate the query in the Query Search Results section and select how you want to run the query:  
  • HTML
  • Excel
  • XML
