Defer Decision - Admissions Application

Purpose: Use this document as a reference for how to defer admission of an applicant in ctcLink

Audience: Admissions staff

You must have at least one of these local college-managed security roles:

  • ZC AD App Entry
  • ZZ AD App Entry

The following SOGI roles have access to the Personal tab only.

  • ZD CC SOGI
  • ZZ CC SOGI
  • ZC CC SOGI

You must also set these SACR Security permissions:

If you need assistance with the above security roles or SACR settings, please contact your local college supervisor or IT Admin to request role access.

Navigation

Navigation: Student Admissions > Application Maintenance > Maintain Applications

Maintain Applications

  1. Navigate to Maintain Applications.
  2. Enter the Academic Institution.
  3. Enter additional Search Criteria to locate the applicant.
    • Examples include Application Number, ID, National ID, or Last Name / First Name.
  4. Select Search.
  5. The Biographical Details tab displays by default.
  6. Select the Application Program Data tab to view the applicant’s program information.
  7. In the Program Data section, select the Add a New Row (+) icon to create a new effective-dated row.
  8. Confirm that a new effective date appears and that you are working on the correct row.
  9. In the Program Status section:
    • Select Program Action = DDEF.
  10. Select Save to apply the update.
  11. Process complete.

Can I get an explanation as to what the "Defer Decision" action does to the application? Does this reflect on the OAAP on the applicant's application status? Thanks!

Hello Zhane, The Defer Decision is a delivered value, and using the action would be based on your local business process. If you add a DDEF row to an application, you would need a query to identify and manage those applications. If a student applied and wanted to defer their admit term (after matriculation), you would be able to perform that action on the student's program plan without adding a DDEF row.
