Enroll Using a Permission Number

Purpose: Use this document as a reference for entering permission numbers for closed courses in ctcLink.

Audience: Students.

Overview

Enrollment using a permission number is typically used for courses for the following reasons:

  • Closed
  • Courses that need consent
  • Enroll from the Wait List

Navigation: ctcLink Student Homepage > Manage Classes

Search for a Class

  1. From the Manage Classes page, select Class Search and Enroll.
  2. The Class Search and Enroll page displays.
  3. Verify the correct enrollment Term is displayed. If needed, select Change Term and choose a different term.
  4. In the Search for Classes field, enter a keyword, course number, subject, class number, or topic.
  5. Select the Search arrow (➜).

Optional Search Methods

🔍 Students can also search for classes using one of the following options:

  • Additional ways to search – Opens advanced search options to narrow your search results (Available Subjects, Catalog Number, Instructor Last Name).
  • Favorites – Displays courses you have marked as favorites for quick access.
  • Recently Viewed – Displays courses you recently viewed. Select a course to review available class sections.

  1. Step 1 of 3: Review Class Selection displays.
  2. Review the selected class information, including:
    • Class.
    • Session.
    • Meeting Dates.
    • Days and Times.
    • Seats.
  3. If the class information is correct, select Next to continue to Step 2: Review Class Preferences.

  1. Step 2 of 3: Review Class Preferences displays.
  2. Review the selected course and class section.
  3. ⚠️ Important: Choose one of the following enrollment options:
    • Enroll – Register for the selected class immediately.
    • Add to Shopping Cart – Save the class to your Shopping Cart to enroll later.
  4. If the class offers a waitlist and you would like to be automatically enrolled if a seat becomes available, select the Add to waitlist if class is full? checkbox. The Add to waitlist if class is full? option is only used if the class becomes full and supports waitlisting. If seats are available, you will be enrolled immediately upon completing the enrollment process.
  5. Enter the Permission Number provided by your college.
  6. Select Accept to continue to Step 3: Review and Submit.

  1. Step 3 of 3: Review and Submit displays.
  2. Review the selected class information, including:
    • Course and class section.
    • Session.
    • Meeting dates.
    • Days and times.
    • Seat availability.
  3. Expand the Class Preferences section to verify your enrollment selections, such as your enrollment option or waitlist preference.
  4. If any changes are needed, select Previous to return to the previous step.
  5. If the information is correct, select Submit.
  6. A confirmation message displays. Select Yes to complete your enrollment.
  7. The Enrollment Results page displays.
  8. Review the results:
    • ✅ A green check mark indicates the class was successfully added to your schedule.
    • ❌ A red X indicates the enrollment was unsuccessful. Review the error message and correct any issues, or contact your advisor or enrollment services office for assistance.
