Distributed User Profiles
Purpose: Provide information on using the Distributed User Profiles page to update the User Profile (Operator Definition) for Primary and Row Level security, which controls the masking of social security number and date of birth in the Campus Solutions Pillar. Additionally, provides information on selecting the correct Process Profile to ensure system users can effectively launch processes in the Process Scheduler.
Audience: Local Security Administrators, Security Authorization Coordinators managing access approval
Navigation: People Tools > Security > User Profile > Distributed User Profiles
Basic Search
- Enter the EMPLID/User ID into the "Search by:" User ID begins with field.
OR
- Select the "Search by:" dropdown menu to change the User ID option to Description. Enter the first and at least a partial last name of the user.
- Select the Search button.
Advanced Search
- Select the Show more options drop down menu to open the advanced search features.
- Both the User ID and Description search criteria fields are displayed.
- Use the drop down menus in either the User ID or Description search criteria fields to change the acceptable format for how the search criteria is entered in each field. Search operators available are:
- Begins with
- Contains
- Equals (=)
- Not Equals (Not =)
- Less Than (<)
- Less Than or Equal To(<=)
- Greater Than (>)
- Greater Than or Equal To(>=)
- Between
- In
- Enter a value in the User ID search field that aligns to the search operator used.
- Enter a value in the Description search field that aligns to the search operator used.
- Select the Search button.
- Once the Search Results display, select the User ID that requires updating.
General Tab
- Use the General tab to verify and update the Process Profile, Primary and Row Security fields under the Permission Lists section.
If this user is an employee/staff member they need to have all three fields completed. A student will only have the Primary and Row Security fields completed.
For the purpose of this example the user is a staff member. The Process Profile field should contain: CTC_PT_PRCSPRFL_STAFF. The Primary and Row Security fields should both contain the same permission list: CTC_PT_WA220 (example).
Use the Look Up tool to search for the appropriate information.
