Add Birth Information (SEVIS)

Purpose: Use this document as a reference for adding birth information in ctcLink.

Audience: College staff responsible for maintaining student SEVIS information.

You must have at least one of these local college managed security roles:

  • ZC CC SOGI
  • ZC CS SEVIS
  • ZD CC SOGI
  • ZD CS SEVIS
  • ZZ CC SOGI
  • ZZ CS SEVIS

If you need assistance with the above security roles, please contact your local college supervisor or IT Admin to request role access.

You must also set these SACR Security permissions:

A person record must exist for the individual receiving the birth information modification in order to proceed with this process. See QRG: 9.2 Adding Applications Manually.

Add/Update a Person

 Navigation: Campus Community > SEVIS > Personal Information > Add/Update a Person

  1. Navigate to Add/Update a Person.
  2. On the Search page (Find an Existing Value):
  3. Enter search criteria to identify the student.
  4. Select Include History.
  5. Click Search.
  6. The Add/Update a Person page displays.
  7. Select the Birth Information link.

Add Birth Information

  1. The Birth Information Detail page displays.
  2. Complete or verify the following fields:
    • Birth Country: Ensure a value is populated. If blank, use the lookup tool to select the correct country.
    • Birth Location: Enter the student’s birth city.
    • Birth State: If known, select using the lookup tool. This field is not required for SEVIS.
  3. Click OK.

Save the Record

  1. The Add/Update a Person page redisplays.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save.
  3. Process complete.
