Enter SEVIS Visa Permit Data

Purpose: Use this document as a reference for entering SEVIS Visa Permit data in ctcLink.

Audience: College staff responsible for maintaining student SEVIS information.

You must have at least one of these local college-managed security roles:

  • ZC CS SEVIS
  • ZD CS SEVIS
  • ZZ CS SEVIS

If you need assistance with the above security roles, please contact your local college supervisor or IT Admin to request role access.

You must also set these SACR Security permissions:

  • A person record must exist for the individual receiving the name modification to proceed with this process. See QRG: Adding Applications Manually without a Fee.
  • SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) is a DHS web-based system used to maintain information on non-immigrant students attending SEVP-certified schools.
  • Institutional-level security prevents you from viewing Visa/Permit Data for students outside your institution.

Visa /Permit Data

Navigation: Campus Community > SEVIS > Personal Information > Visa/Permit Data

  1. Navigate to Visa/Permit Data.
  2. The Search page displays.
    • Enter search criteria to locate the student.
    • Click Search.

Enter Visa/Permit Data

  1. The Visa/Permit Data page displays.
  2. Enter data according to institutional business process needs.
    • Country: Select USA using the lookup tool.
    • Type: Select appropriate visa type (F1, F2, J1, J2, M1, M2).
    • Effective Date: Defaults to today’s date (update if needed).
    • Status: Defaults to Applied (update if needed).
    • Status Date: Defaults to today’s date (update if needed).
    • Duration Type: Defaults to today’s date (update if needed).
  3. If available, access any supporting documentation by selecting Get Supporting Documents.

Enter Port of Entry Data

  1. Select the Port of Entry Data tab.
  2. The Port of Entry Data page displays.
    • Enter information if required by college business process.
    • This tab does not require data for SEVIS processing.
  3. Select Save.
  4. Process complete.
