Entering SEVIS Citizenship/Passport Data

Purpose: Use this document as a reference for entering SEVIS citizenship/passport data in ctcLink.

Audience: College staff responsible for maintaining student SEVIS information.

You must have at least one of these local college-managed security roles:

  • ZC CS SEVIS
  • ZD CS SEVIS
  • ZZ CS SEVIS

    If you need assistance with the above security roles, please contact your local college supervisor or IT Admin to request role access.

You must also set these SACR Security permissions:

A person record must exist for the individual receiving the name modification to proceed with this process. See QRG: Adding Applications Manually without a Fee.

SEVIS requires two citizenship rows to proceed with this process:

  1. Row reflecting the student’s foreign country of citizenship in the Country field, and
  2. Row reflecting USA in the Country field and Alien Temporary in the Citizenship Status field.

Citizenship/Passport Data

Navigation: Campus Community > SEVIS > Personal Information > Citizenship/Passport Data

  1. Navigate to Citizenship/Passport Data.
  2. The Search page displays.
    • Enter search criteria to identify the student.
    • Click Search.

Citizenship/Passport Page

  1. The Citizenship/Passport page displays.
  2. SEVIS requires two citizenship rows:
    • Row 1: Student’s foreign country of citizenship (Country field).
    • Row 2: USA in the Country field with Alien Temporary in the Citizenship Status field.
Case Option 1: Missing USA Citizenship Row (Has Foreign Country Row)
  1. Select the Add [+] button to insert a new row.
    • A second row displays with blank fields.
  2. In the Citizenship/Passport section:
    • Use the Country lookup tool and select USA.
    • The Country field in the Passport Information section will also display USA.
  3. In the Citizenship Status field, select Alien Temporary.
  4. Click Save.
Case Option 2: Missing Foreign Citizenship Row (Has USA – Alien Temporary Row)
  1. Select the Add [+] button to insert a new row.
    • A second row displays with blank fields.
  2. In the Citizenship/Passport section:
    • Use the Country lookup tool to select the student’s foreign country of citizenship.
    • The Country field in the Passport Information section will automatically populate with that value.
  3. Leave the Citizenship Status field blank.
  4. If known, enter the student’s Passport Number.
    • This is not required for the SEVIS batch process.
  5. Click Save.

🔔 Reminder: Both rows (foreign citizenship + USA with Alien Temporary) must be present to meet SEVIS requirements.
