Remove Home Address (SEVIS)

Purpose: Use this document as a reference for removing a home address by inactivating it in ctcLink.

Audience: College staff responsible for maintaining student SEVIS information.

You must have at least one of these local college managed security roles:

  • ZC CC SOGI
  • ZC CS SEVIS
  • ZD CC SOGI
  • ZD CS SEVIS
  • ZZ CC SOGI
  • ZZ CS SEVIS

If you need assistance with the above security roles, please contact your local college supervisor or IT Admin to request role access.

You must also set these SACR Security permissions:

A person record must exist for the individual receiving the name modification to proceed with this process. See QRG: Adding Applications Manually without a Fee.

  • An active home address type must currently exist on the student’s record to proceed with this process.
  • A foreign address cannot be an active home address per SEVIS requirements.

Add/Update a Person

 Navigation: Campus Community > SEVIS > Personal Information > Add/Update a Person

  1. Navigate to Add/Update a Person.
  2. The Add/Update a Person – Search page displays.
    • Enter search criteria to identify the student.
    • Select Include History.
    • Click Search.

Open Address History

  1. The Add/Update a Person page displays.
  2. Select the Addresses tab.
  3. The student’s Current Addresses are listed at the top of the page.
  4. For the Home address type, click Edit/View Address Detail.

Inactivate the Address

  1. The Address History page displays.
  2. Click the Add [+] button to insert a new row.
    • Two rows will now display for the Home address type.
    • The Effective Date defaults to today’s date.
    • The Address in the new row will initially match the original address in the first row.
    • The Status defaults to Active.
  3. In the Status field, select Inactive from the drop-down list.
  4. Click OK.

Save the Record

  1. The Add/Update a Person page redisplays, defaulting to the Addresses tab.
    • The Home address type now shows Inactive in the Status field.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and click Save.
