Manually Enter SEVIS ID
Purpose: Refer to this document when manually entering the SEVIS ID in PeopleSoft that was provided by the Department of Homeland Security for students or exchange visitors and their dependents.
Audience: College Staff responsible for maintaining student SEVIS information.
You must have at least one of these local college-managed security roles:
- ZC CS SEVIS
- ZD CS SEVIS
- ZZ CS SEVIS
If you need assistance with the above security roles, please contact your local college supervisor or IT Admin to request role access.
You must also set these SACR Security permissions:
📢Important Notes
- Warning! SEVIS IDs should only be manually entered if the student’s/dependent’s I-20 or DS-2019 was initially created directly in SEVIS RTI.
- SEVIS ID is an 11-character unique identifier provided by DHS.
- Must be recorded for students and dependents to maintain SEVIS compliance.
- Before entering the student’s SEVIS ID, the student’s I-20/DS-2019 must first be created in PeopleSoft, and the Export Process Send to Master (Master Sync) must have been run.

Navigation: Campus Community > SEVIS > SEVIS Maintenance > SEVIS ID Maintenance
Locate the Student
- The SEVIS ID Maintenance search page displays.
- Enter Search Criteria to identify your student.
- Check the Include History option.
- Select Search.
- The SEVIS ID Maintenance page displays.
Enter SEVIS ID (F/M Students & Dependents)
- In the SEVIS Schools section, select your SEVIS School Code using the lookup tool 🔍.
- Enter the Effective Date of the SEVIS ID.
- Enter the 11-character SEVIS ID provided by DHS.
Enter SEVIS ID (J Exchange Visitors & Dependents)
- In the SEVIS Programs section, select your SEVIS Program Number using the lookup tool 🔍.
- Enter the Effective Date of the SEVIS ID.
- Enter the 11-character SEVIS ID provided by DHS.
- Select Save.
- Process complete.
