Bypass Clean Address Validation
⚠️This QRG includes upcoming functionality that will be available beginning 10/16/2026.
Purpose: Use this document as a reference for authorizing designated college staff to bypass Clean Address validation when a legitimate address cannot be validated in ctcLink.
Audience: College Staff
You must have at least one of these local college-managed security roles:
- ZC CC Personal Information
- ZD CC Personal Information
- ZZ CC Pers Info NID Update
- ZZ CC Personal Information
You must also have the ZZ_CS_CLN_ADDR_BYPASS security role to bypass FORCE VALID address validation.
Note: The ZZ_CS_CLN_ADDR_BYPASS role does not grant access to the Addresses page. Staff must have both the appropriate page access role and the bypass security role.
If you need assistance with the above security roles or SACR settings, please contact your local college supervisor or IT Admin to request role access
Overview
Clean Address is a third-party product integrated with ctcLink that validates addresses against U.S. Postal Service (USPS) data and applies standardized formatting, such as changing "Street" to "ST."
The FORCE VALID feature prevents addresses that do not pass USPS validation from being saved in ctcLink. However, USPS may not recognize some legitimate addresses
A new shell security role allows designated college staff to bypass FORCE VALID on the Addresses page when an address has been verified as accurate but cannot be accepted through other ctcLink pages.
Standard Clean Address formatting will continue to apply.
Security Access
Colleges are responsible for identifying staff who need authorization to bypass address validation.
- Identify staff who need to manage address validation exceptions as part of their job responsibilities.
- Provide the designated staff information to your college's Local Security Administrator (LSA).
- Limit access to staff who require this functionality.
Navigation: Campus Community > Personal Information > Biographical > Addresses/Phones > Addresses
Note: The new shell security role allows authorized staff to bypass FORCE VALID but does not grant access to the Addresses page. Staff must also have the appropriate security role that provides page access.
Important Considerations
⚠️ Warning: The address validation bypass should only be used after staff have confirmed that the address is accurate and legitimate, but Clean Address will not accept it through other ctcLink pages.
- Verify the address before using the bypass.
- Use the bypass only when standard address validation is unsuccessful.
- Enter the address through the designated Addresses page.
- Do not use the bypass as a routine alternative to address validation.
Reminder: Bypassing FORCE VALID does not disable Clean Address formatting. Address standardization will continue to apply.
Bypass Clean Address Validation
Navigation: Campus Community > Personal Information > Biographical > Addresses/Phones > Addresses
- On the Addresses page, locate the appropriate Address Type and select Edit/View Address Detail.
- The Address History page displays.
- Select the plus icon (+).
- Select Update Addresses.
- Enter or update the address information.
- Select OK.
- A message may display stating, "Address is currently being verified. Please try again." Select OK to dismiss the message.
- If Clean Address cannot validate the address, an Address out of Range Suggestions section displays with suggested address ranges.
- Do not select a suggested address range. Instead, select OK on the Edit Address page to bypass FORCE VALID and retain the address entered.
- The Addresses page displays with the updated address in the Address History section.
- Verify that the address is correct, then select OK to save your changes.
- The Addresses page displays the Current Addresses.
- Select Save.
⚠️ Important: Only use the FORCE VALID bypass after confirming that the address is legitimate and accurate but cannot be accepted through other ctcLink pages. This functionality is intended for authorized staff handling address validation exceptions and should not be used to bypass routine address verification.
