9.2 Add Student Permanent Address (SEVIS)

Purpose: Use this document as a reference for adding additional address types in ctcLink.

Audience: College staff responsible for maintaining student SEVIS information.

A person record must exist for the individual receiving the address modification in order to proceed with this process. See QRG: 9.2 Adding Applications Manually

A permanent address must be a foreign address outside the United States to proceed with this process.

Add Student Permanent Address (SEVIS)

Navigation: NavBar > Navigator > Campus Community > SEVIS > Personal Information > Add/Update a Person

  1. The Add/Update a Person search page displays.
  2. Enter Search Criteria to identify your student.
  3. Check the Include History option.
  4. Select the Search button.

  1. The student’s Current Addresses will be listed for the student at the top of the page.

  1. There are two options for adding a new permanent address: 
    • Option 1: The permanent address matches a current address listed for the student, or
    • Option 2: The permanent address does not match a current address listed for the student.

  1. Under Current Addresses, select the Address Type that will match the permanent address.
  2. The address type you selected will now display under the Add Address section.
  3. Select the “Permanent” option under the Add Addresses Types section.
  4. Select Submit.

  1. The Permanent Address will now appear under Current Addresses.
  2. Under the Add Addresses section, the Submit button will now be grayed out.
  3. Under the Add Address Types section, there will be a checkmark next to Permanent.

  1. Select Save at the bottom of the page.

  1. The process to Add Student Permanent Address (SEVIS) is now complete.
  2. End of procedure.
Option 2: The permanent address does not match a current address listed for the student.
  1. Select the foreign country first using the lookup tool and then click Edit Address to enter the address fields next.
  2. Under Add Address section, select “Edit Address.”

  1. Country you selected should now be listed at the top of the page.

  1. Enter the foreign address as completely as possible in the fields. The Country and Address 1 fields are required.
    • If you cannot save your address, confirm your address by checking the accuracy of your address. If you are still unable to save the address due to an error, select the Change Country link and choose your country. This will allow you to bypass the error before choosing OK.
    • Note: When searching for England, select GBR (United Kingdom) to open the address fields.
    • PeopleSoft delivers foreign address formats to conform to the customary address format of the specified country. Below is a helpful crosswalk for staff to use when determining where to enter values in PeopleSoft foreign address fields.
  2. Select OK.

  1. Select the “Permanent” option under the Add Addresses Types section.
  2. Select Submit.

  1. The Permanent Address will now appear under Current Addresses.
  2. Under the Add Addresses section, the Submit button will now be grayed out.
  3. Under the Add Address Types section, there will be a checkmark next to Permanent.

  1. Select Save at the bottom of the page.
