Shopping Cart Purge

Purpose: This document is a reference for purging the shopping cart in ctcLink.

Audience: Student Records Staff

You must have the following local college-managed security role:

  • ZZ SR End of Term Processing

If you need assistance with the above security roles, please contact your local college supervisor or IT Admin to request role access.

User Academic Program Security SACR determines which institutions are displayed on the Shopping Cart Purge page. Users with Academic Program Security SACR access at multiple institutions will see various institutions listed on the Shopping Cart Purge page. Users should exercise caution when running the Shopping Cart Purge process and ensure that they select the appropriate institutions and terms to include in the purge process.

Shopping Cart Purge Process

It is important to run the Shopping Cart Purge process to remove student shopping cart data after the term enrollment period is over. Please note that the process is irreversible and should be used with caution when selecting which terms to include.

Navigation > Records and Enrollment > Term Processing > End of Term Processing > Shopping Cart Purge

  1. The Shopping Cart Purge search page displays.
  2. If you have run this process or report in the past, select the Find an Existing Value tab to enter an existing Run Control ID and select the Search button. If this is the first time running this process or report, select the Add a New Value tab to create a new Run Control ID and select the Add button.
  3. It is important to note that Run Control IDs cannot be deleted. Do not include spaces in your Run Control. We encourage the Run Control ID to have the same process naming convention but unique to the step; because of this, including your institution code and a short process description in the Run Control ID is recommended--e.g., WA220_SHOPPING_CART_PURGE.
Message Box displays with a red box around the OK button
  1. All terms with student Shopping Cart data will be displayed. Waiting until enrollment ends for the current term to purge data is recommended. Select only those terms where that data should be deleted. Please note that the process is irreversible and should be used cautiously when selecting which terms to include.
  2. Select the Run button in the top-right corner. Refer to the QRG Process Scheduling for instructions. The Shopping Cart Purge Run Control ID page displays. You may be prompted with the same message as when you first entered the page. This is not an error message. Click OK to bypass the message. After the process has run to completion, click the Refresh Grid button. Again, the same message may be displayed when refreshing the page. It is not an error; bypass the message by clicking OK.
  3. Terms with purged shopping cart data will be removed from the list.
  4. Process complete.

Hello Erica,
Thank you for the great question! MetaLink lists the following query QCS_CC_CEDQ_STRM_CART- "Since it's possible for students to register for a class and then add the same class to their shopping cart, this query will only pull classes that are in the student's shopping cart that the student is not enrolled in. QCS_CC_CEDQ_STRM_CART can be used to enter student shopping cart information in an email communication to the student."
